A warm welcome to "8A Irish Rail" gallery which consists of images taken on the southern Irish system operated by "Iarnrod Eireann". All images have been taken on numerous visits since my first visit to this wonderful country late 2001 and my only regret is that I wish I had gone earlier!
Most lines are covered including some of the closed lines were some of the infrastruture is amazingly still in place! The images have been taken on Fuji transparency & print films along with some digital images too but no image has been adjusted in anyway either to shapen, colour correct or contrast as unfortunately no time too.
Unlike my UK rail photography were I'm allowed the luxury of taking them in sunshine, I must make the most of the weather on offer when visiting Eire so some images are not taken in ideal lighting conditions!
Hopefully this site gives you a little taste on what is on offer in the Emerald Isle but the scene is changing fast so go now if you have not been, you will not be disappointed. However, the jewel in the crown is the people of Ireland, very welcoming and lovely warm hospitality which is second to none. Travelling around the country is relatively easy whether by car or train but best of all you can taste the real black stuff (Guinness) in its home land.
